MEET JENNIE

Jennie Brown has been working in the eye care industry since 1999. She earned her Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) credential in 2000 and her Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification in 2006, then the OCS and OSC credentials. She is currently pursuing her Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) certification.

Throughout her career in ophthalmology, Jennie has gained extensive hands-on experience, including surgical assisting, comprehensive patient workups, assisting in multiple in-office procedures, and a wide range of diagnostic testing. Her expertise and leadership led her to advanced roles: Lead Technician and Clinical Coordinator. 

Jennie’s dedication to training and mentorship is driven by a deep passion for the vital role ophthalmic personnel play in patient care. While some may view ophthalmic assisting as simply a job, Jennie believes it is one of the most important roles in healthcare. Ophthalmic professionals not only support physicians but also serve patients through knowledge, compassion, and grace. She recognizes that every technician learns differently and that every patient requires individualized care. Jennie encourages ophthalmic assistants to challenge themselves daily—to remain grateful for their role, to continue learning, and to provide the highest level of support to the physicians and organizations they serve. 

Faith has been a guiding force throughout Jennie’s professional journey. She uses her skills and opportunities as gifts meant to be used with integrity and purpose. Her commitment to excellence, ethical practice, and service is rooted in her trust in God. This foundation inspires her to approach every professional relationship with respect, compassion, and honesty. 

Outside of her professional life, Jennie enjoys spending time with her son, Jaron, and enjoys reading, exercising, and learning to play the guitar. She remains committed each day to combining expertise, passion, and faith to make a meaningful impact by teaching and inspiring others. Jennie is based in Kansas.
