Description:
This course will enhance ophthalmic technicians’ skills in obtaining and documenting an effective chief complaint and history of present illness (HPI). Participants will learn how to ask targeted, symptom-driven questions that support accurate diagnosis, improve patient care, and ensure compliance with clinical and billing standards.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the key components of a comprehensive chief complaint and history of present illness (HPI).
2. Demonstrate how to obtain and document a focused history based on the patient's primary ocular symptom(s).
3. Apply strategies to elicit accurate patient responses that improve diagnostic accuracy and support proper coding.
