MEET CYNTHIA R. RAMOS, COT Ophthalmic Technology Degree, Magna Cum Laude

Cynthia began her career in ophthalmology in 1999 after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus with a degree in Ophthalmic Technology. She is a Certified Ophthalmic Technician through IJCAHPO and brings over 25 years of experience in general and pediatric ophthalmology.

Cynthia brings extensive clinical experience in diagnostic testing, refractions, pediatric and adult strabismus; complemented by significant surgical assisting expertise. Her work spans multiple ophthalmic subspecialties, including cataract, retina, glaucoma, corneal transplant, strabismus, LASIK, and oculoplastics.

As an Ophthalmic Technologist at Houston Eye Associates, Cynthia served as a team lead in both clinical and research settings, training and mentoring new and experienced technicians. She brings extensive experience in documentation standards, workflow optimization, and EMR proficiency to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Cynthia is committed to clear communication with patients and clinical teams alike.

Cynthia has also contributed to ophthalmic education by assisting in the delivery of a core curriculum optics course for the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus Ophthalmic Technology Program. She additionally served as Principal Research Coordinator for a pivotal Phase 3 myopia study with Sydnexis, maintaining strong protocol compliance and patient retention throughout the study.

Deeply passionate about ophthalmology, Cynthia believes that protecting and improving vision directly impacts a patient’s confidence, independence, and overall well-being. She is dedicated to strengthening technician development and elevating clinical standards within ophthalmic practices.
